James started NextStep in 2001. He is a business consultant turned accountant so is interested in growing your business firstly, then getting your accounts sorted. He started life as a Park Ranger and so has worked on most of the tracks in the Wakatipu Basin. He spent 7 years on his O.E. working in London, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York and Budapest in many types of accounting roles. He returned to work for AJ Hackett for 4 years then onto Tourism Holdings Limited to look after Milford Sound Red Boats, Helicopter Line, Mt. Cook Ski Planes and Treble Cone Ski-field before starting NextStep.
A keen sportsman he still plays cricket. Follows the All Blacks and Black Caps around Australasia. When time permits can be found fly fishing, in the outdoors or DIYing on his house.
After over 30 years of living in Queenstown he moved to Otematata, North Otago. He is passionate about the communities he is invovled with and takes an active role in the Queenstown JazzFest as a trustee and is on the Otematata Residence Association.
He is responsible for the smooth running of the firm and for ensuring that staff work to the highest standards and provide great customer service. In his 20 years in practice James has acquired a formidable range of expertise and experience. His client portfolio includes a number of major companies and professional firms whom he advises on a wide range of commercial issues.
